The game's main enemy force is the Covenant, a group of alien species allied by belief in a common religion. There are two different types of grenades the fragmentation grenade bounces and detonates quickly, whereas the plasma grenade adheres to targets before exploding. Halo departs from traditional FPS conventions by not forcing the player character to holster its firearm before deploying grenades or melee-range blunt instruments instead, both attacks can be utilized while a gun is still equipped, supplementing small-arms fire. In contrast to the large weapon inventories of contemporary FPS games, Halo players may carry only two weapons at once, calling for players to make tactical decisions when managing firearms. For example, plasma weapons need time to cool if fired too rapidly, but do not need to be reloaded and must be discarded upon depletion of their batteries, whereas conventional firearms cannot overheat, but require reloading and ammunition. The game has been praised for giving each weapon a unique purpose, thus making each useful in different scenarios. ![]() Halo's arsenal consists primarily of science fiction weapons. Health can be replenished through the collection of health packs scattered around the game's levels. When this health meter reaches zero, the character dies and the game reloads from a saved checkpoint. When the shield is fully depleted, the player becomes highly vulnerable, and further damage reduces the hit points of their health meter. The shield's charge appears as a blue bar in the corner of the game's heads-up display, and it automatically recharges if no damage is sustained for a brief period. The player character is equipped with an energy shield that nullifies damage from weapons fire and forceful impacts. The game's heads-up display includes a "motion tracker" that registers moving allies, moving or firing enemies, and vehicles, in a certain radius of the player. The game switches to a third-person perspective during vehicle use for pilots and mounted gun operators passengers maintain a first-person view. Visit Indiana for a fun vacation.Indiana Jones’ Greatest Adventures is a run-and-gun platform/action game developed by Factor 5 (the German team who made Super Turrican, among others), with the supervision of LucasArts, and published by JVC in 1994. It isn't a hard game, nor is it a 16-bit breakthrough, but it is entertaining. This is a game that fans want to like, and they undoubtedly will. Indy's followers probably won't mind the game's few flaws. The familiar music is thin, and the voices are more muffled. Unfortunately, the sounds aren't of the same caliber. The graphics are identical to what you saw on the SNES: colorful, diverse backgrounds, pinpoint detail, and movie scenes between levels. The visuals and sounds only partially survived the transfer to the Genesis. Add in his various driving and flying abilities, and Greatest Adventures is almost a showcase for the Genesis controller. He cracks the whip, fires a pistol, tosses grenades, and throws punches with precision and power. The game's sharp controls make Indy an easy hero to like. While not revolutionary, the gameplay is certainly never boring. In between are assorted run-n-gun adventures with three fast-paced behind-the-vehicle steering levels added for diversity. Greatest Adventures follows the plots of the three Indiana Jones films, taking you from the boulder chase of Raiders to the Holy Grail in Last Crusade. If you know the SNES game, you know this version right down to every crawly spider. Gold has smoothly ported over 1994's SNES version of the game, making Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures a welcome addition to the shrinking list of new Genesis games. Although it's not a heavy hitter like Earthworm Jim and the Super Star Wars series, Indiana Jones will take you away. Just like the films, though, you have to draw on the magic of movies a little when you play. If you think the Indy movies are the among the best adventure films ever made, you'll have a great time with this game. Some stages won't break a sweat on the brow of learned platform gamers. And easy it is, with the game's smooth, accurate controls. As in Jones's big-screen adventures, the action is basic brawling through the easy levels. The simple controls include jumping, whipping, and punching. A saving grace is the number of superb voice clips (Sean Connery's "I've lost him" is one example). Although the music is great, it's the same throughout most of the game. The sounds are excellent but not perfect. The exciting Boulder Run from Raiders of the Lost Ark would've been better as a forward-scrolling segment, while Temple of Doom's Mine Cart race is too static. Some graphics, however, could've been improved. Crystal-dear digitized cinema scenes from the movie trilogy are spread throughout the game. The inconsistent graphics include many fine Super Star Wars-type graphics, along with some pretty clean backgrounds. Both weapons have unlimited use, but if you die, you must find them again. Indy being Indy, the only weapon he can carry is his whip, though he sports an occasional gun. You'll see the temple's natives, contemptible rats and spiders, and an even lower life form: all the Nazis you can handle. The enemies are also straight from the silver screen. Look carefully for posts you can swing from. When you find a gun, use it but remember that the whip is sometimes more effective and has a greater range. ![]() It’s probably the most universally inspirational fictional creature. For a brief time we talked about something like that. Created by a team of approximately 15 people - a size that’s today often associated with indie game development - Panzer Dragoon was a technical marvel made possible by inspiration and youthful energy.īecause we were tasked with creating a shooting game, the first thing that came to mind was to make a game in outer space, like a Star Wars type of shooter. But before Panzer Dragoon Saga was even a blip on the game industry’s radar, Sega first had to get Panzer Dragoon out into consumers’ hands. Panzer Dragoon and then Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei offered such a rich aura while using so little - short vignettes of imperial ships chasing an elusive dragon and its rider, even with a fictional language - that the premise of the third game expanding the universe in the form of a role-playing game made long-suffering Saturn fans euphoric with joy. The first two Panzer Dragoon titles were on-rails shooters, which meant they were much like Space Harrier - a game where the player flies towards the foreground on a predetermined path, tasked with shooting down as many projectiles or enemies that fly at the screen. As you’ll learn firsthand from the people who were there, not all legends have a happy ending. In the story that follows, you’ll learn about how this peculiar RPG - designed to be a solitary, avant-garde counterculture experience - wound up becoming the Sega Saturn’s last great hope. In order to pull off the exponential, ambitious growth of the Saga concept, Team Andromeda founders Yukio Futatsugi and Manabu Kusunoki had to grow the staff. Panzer Dragoon Saga pivoted sharply from its predecessors, taking the unusual step of shifting from the on-rails shooter category. However, given their fast-paced action setting, there was little time to dive deeper into the series’ fiction outside of their atmospheric CG cinematics. Taken at face value, Panzer Dragoon and its much-improved successor, Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei, offered just enough mythos to compel players to work through each game’s handful of beautifully realized stages to completion. While 2002’s Panzer Dragoon Orta (developed by ex-Team Andromeda members who later joined another studio, Smilebit) kept the series going later, it was the role-playing game Panzer Dragoon Saga that ended up becoming the standout. Over the course of three initial games - Panzer Dragoon (1995), Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei (1996) and Panzer Dragoon Saga (1998) - Team Andromeda continued to mine this simple yet compelling premise: that of a rider and his dragon facing off against a mysterious empire. Part Space Harrier, part Dune, part Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Panzer Dragoon filled Sega Saturns around the globe with evocative 3D shooting action featuring a blue dragon and its rider. Its debut game was the on-rails shooter Panzer Dragoon. It was Team Andromeda - an internal R&D team at Sega of Japan - that first revealed the potential of the Sega Saturn. ![]() ![]() Another way to find the IP address of a MAC address is to use the “ip” command. In order to make sense of this fact, we need to understand blues as belonging to its own system of tonality, distinct from major, minor and modal systems. Instead, they hear an alternative form of consonance. But blues listeners do not experience the music as strange or dissonant. Blues harmony does not fit into major or minor tonality, and it frequently violates the “rules” of voice leading and chord function. Blues follows harmonic conventions that are quite different from those of Western European common practice. It is commonly described as a combination of African rhythms and European harmonies. The blues is a foundational element of America’s vernacular and art music. Read this treatise in Spanish, translated by Jesús Fernández. Listen for which notes sound best with each chord! If you listen carefully, your ear will tell you which notes are a problem! At first improvise using only two or three notes of the blues scale and compose ideas that you like the sound of on each chord.See a more beginner-friendly blues primer here. Melodic ideas moving through the scale may pass by those dissonant notes without a problem but they shouldn’t be emphasized against the chord! The best test is to play each chord on a keyboard, holding down the sustain pedal, and play the scale over it with your instrument (if you are a pianist, play and hold the chord with your left hand and play the blues scale with your right hand). The blues scale built on the key center works with all three chords in the progression! However, you do have to be careful of certain notes that will sound dissonant or “wrong” on each of the chords. Unlike other chord progressions and their related scales or modes, you don’t use a separate scale for each chord. The beauty of the blues scale is that it generally fits all three chords in the blues progression. The Blues Progression and the Blues Scale - Blues scale of the key! Bb, of course, is just the lowered 7th of the chord but it is not in the normal major key signature so it takes on a bluesy character! The same is true of F# which is the raised 11th of the chord. That is probably because Eb would be a minor 3rd in the chord and we generally seem to hear minor sounds as being sad or bluesy! However, you don’t normally have both a major 3rd and a minor 3rd in a chord so the Eb is really D#, the raised 9th of the chord! So we hear it as an alteration of the harmony. When used with a C 7, the Eb gives a “bluesy” sound to the chord. A Blues scale built on C has the following notes: C, Eb, F, F#, G and Bb. The Blues Scale is so-called because it includes notes that are considered “blue” notes, the lowered 3rd, lowered 5th and lowered 7th of the key. Remember that the 4th scale step if very dissonant against the 3rd of the chord and wants to move to the 3rd! Otherwise, any other notes in the scale will sound okay when emphasized. They are simply major scales with flatted 7th tones like the dominant 7th chords. It is always good to emphasize the 3rd and 7th of the chord because those tones identify what kind of chord it is! In this case the major 3rd and flat 7th reveal the dominant 7th sound! You can also improvise on dominant 7th or Mixolydian scales. You can improvise on just the chord tones and that is a good place to start.
